Gemotions

The mail carrier had just dropped the daily delivery, and she was stepping out to retrieve it. That's when she saw it – the behemoth of a dog, Buster, bounding across her lawn with that goofy grin plastered across its face.

She froze. The hairs on the back of her neck stood at attention. She knew what was coming.

She backed away slowly, never breaking eye contact. She couldn't breathe. Buster stopped, head cocked, and started barking. A frantic scramble, she darted back inside, slamming the door and locking it.

She pressed her body against the door, listening to his frantic scratching on the other side. Each scrape was another notch on a fear she had become intimately familiar with.
