Maya felt a chill crawl up her spine when she saw the profile picture. It was Mrs. Davis, her English teacher. She'd been tagged in a meme by a classmate, and now she was staring at the teacher's profile. Her stomach seemed to drop, a hollow ache settling in her chest.

A cold sweat slicked her palms. Her phone almost slipped from her grasp as she frantically scrolled through the teacher's few posts. Perfectly curated, innocuous photos of sunsets and book quotes. Her breath hitched. Why was she doing this?

She dropped her phone on the bed, burying her face in her hands. The image of Mrs. Davis's smiling face replayed in her mind, over and over. She felt a prickling sensation at the back of her neck, the unsettling feeling of being watched.
