The elevator shuddered, then lurched to a standstill, trapping them in the metal cage. A tremor ran through Clara's body. She bit her lip to stop the trembling.

"Just a minor delay," stated Thomas, trying to project a sense of calm. The air seemed to be getting heavier, harder to breathe. She wished she had never worn this dress.
