It hit Mark hard, the truth about the house's past. The local news had featured a brief segment about the unsolved homicide that occurred inside his home. His hands shook as he set down his mug of coffee. The warmth of the drink was suddenly unwelcome.

He roamed through the house, each room now tainted by the knowledge of the past crime. He wanted to understand, to rationalize, but fear clouded his thoughts.
