Gemotions

The weight of the revelation settled heavily upon her. The detective had been polite but firm. A murder had taken place here. Now, as she walked through the rooms, the house itself seemed to shift, to rearrange.

She felt a physical ache, a sense of pressure in her chest that made it hard to breathe. The familiar objects around her – the furniture, the paintings, the photographs – seemed to have changed. They seemed to stare back at her, accusatory. She wanted to call someone, anyone, to talk, to alleviate the pressure, but her throat constricted, and the phone felt too heavy in her hand.
