Her breath hitched as she signed the email, the words on the screen now a weapon in her hands. The lawyer's email. Half-brother. She'd known about her father's past, heard whispers, but had convinced herself that they were just rumors. Now, here it was in black and white.

She slammed the laptop shut, the abruptness of the action reflecting her inner turmoil. She didn't want this. She didn't want to share her father's legacy with anyone, especially not someone she didn't know. The notion felt invasive, a trespass against her own identity.
