The flickering fluorescent lights of the lab hummed, amplifying the silence. Amelia’s hands trembled as she typed, her fingers fumbling over the keyboard. The deadline was looming, and the pressure was immense, but now… now this was worse. She'd accidentally stumbled upon a file named "Project Chimera" in the shared drive. It mirrored her own, line for line. A cold dread crept up her spine, tightening her chest.

She took a shaky breath and clicked on the document. The date stamp was yesterday. Someone else was doing what she was doing. A bitter taste coated her mouth. She felt a need to vomit.

Her gaze darted around the empty lab, as if expecting to find someone lurking in the shadows. She felt her pulse race like a trapped bird. Who was this other person? And, more pressingly, *why*?
