The newspaper headline screamed at him: "Local Hero's Untold Story!" He crumpled the paper in his fist, the ink staining his skin. The "untold story" was a pack of lies, embellished and distorted to make him sound… important. He hated it.

He sat on the park bench, watching children play. He was a simple man. His life was not meant for the limelight. He hated the intrusion. He gripped the bench until his knuckles went white, the sunlight warm on his back. How could someone he didn't even know, weave such a dishonest account of his existence?

His teeth gnawed at his lip. He had to set things right, to expose the writer's fabrication. He stood, his decision made. He would tell the real story, in his own words.
