Gemotions

The email sat in her inbox, subject line: "Advance Copy." She almost deleted it, but curiosity, or perhaps a morbid fascination, got the better of her. She clicked, and the words on the screen slowly morphed into a grotesque caricature of her life. A life, she thought, that was now public property.

She closed her laptop with a snap. The screen's glow seemed to mock her. She felt sick, disgusted. She took a long, hard look around her apartment. She felt exposed. This invasion was a brutal attack, a violation.

She would not let this stand. She started composing a scathing response, the words flowing like a bitter, unrelenting stream. She'd rip the book and its author to shreds.
