Her fingers trembled as she reread the email, the words blurring before her eyes. The cold, impersonal language of accusation felt like a physical blow. She felt a surge of indignation, hot and sharp, coursing through her.

She had always been a meticulous student, a perfectionist. To be accused of something so egregious as copying felt like a personal insult, a judgment of her character. She felt her face flush, heat rising in her neck.

She pictured the smug look on the other student's face, the ease with which they had apparently stolen her work. She clenched her jaw.

She would not let them get away with this. She'd fight back, and she would win.
