He stared at the spreadsheet on his laptop, his jaw clenched. Across the conference table, his business partner, Ben, was taking all the credit for the successful launch of their new product. The presentation was slick, the narrative compelling – but utterly false.

He remembered the late nights, the strategic planning sessions, the countless hours *he* had poured into the project. Ben, on the other hand, had been mostly absent, preoccupied with other ventures.

A wave of heat washed over him. He felt the blood pounding in his ears. The lies were coming out of Ben's mouth with such ease. He could feel the bile rising in his throat.
