The numbers didn't make sense. I stared at the financial report, seeing the disparity reflected in cold, hard facts. The junior employee was being paid more. My gut twisted with a sharp, unpleasant feeling.

I felt a surge of energy, but the energy was directed towards a quiet, seething anger. I began to actively look for ways to undermine my colleague.
