He felt a shiver run down his spine. The follow request from Ms. Chen, his calculus teacher. He clicked on her profile. It was empty, save for a profile picture: a picture of a cat. A weird, uncanny, and off-putting cat, he thought.

He immediately pictured her at school, the way she made such complex material seem so very simple and understandable, the way she always smiled when she helped him. Now, seeing her online presence, a feeling of disgust washed over him. He felt betrayed, as if she was trying to get into his private life. He'd been looking for a break from her and her class, and she found him anyway. He was so incredibly tired.
