Gemotions

Liam was whistling a jaunty tune as he walked to the campus mailbox. He'd poured his heart into that scholarship application, and frankly, he saw no reason to believe anything but the best result. He envisioned the acceptance letter, the congratulations, the smooth sailing into his dream program.

The mailbox held no letter. Only a small, innocuous envelope. His brow furrowed with a hint of displeasure. He opened the envelope, and the news hit him like a physical blow. Denied. He frowned, a flash of irritation crossing his face.

He wouldn't dwell on it. He’d just find another path. He'd call his advisor immediately, and probably some of the professors he knew. Liam clenched his jaw, already mentally outlining his next moves.
