"No sweat," Amelia muttered under her breath, a smirk playing on her lips. She sauntered into the student center, head held high, clutching a lukewarm latte. She'd heard through the grapevine that the scholarship committee was notoriously picky, but she felt certain she’d stood out from the crowd. Her application was practically a masterpiece.

She scanned the room, looking for a free table. A notification on her phone popped up, and she casually glanced down at the screen. A single, terse sentence. Her smile faltered, her jaw tightened. Rejected.

She drained the last of her coffee with a theatrical flourish, before heading straight to the scholarship office. She knew exactly what she needed to do to change their mind.
