A flush crept up Liam’s neck, but it wasn't from embarrassment. He felt a surge of… something else. Contempt, perhaps. He glanced at the professor, a man who probably hadn’t cracked a new book since the Reagan administration. Plagiarism? The very idea was preposterous.

“With all due respect, Professor,” he began, his voice laced with amusement, “I believe you might want to re-evaluate your sources. I cited everything, and extensively.” He unfolded his arms, resting his fingertips on the desk, a casual posture belying the fire in his chest.

The professor stammered, pointing to a highlighted passage. Liam simply raised an eyebrow. He could explain the nuances of that particular academic argument in his sleep. This wasn't a problem, this was a minor irritation.

He'd get through this, as he got through everything.
