The realtor had gone on about the "charming character" of the house, but Liam just saw a fixer-upper. He’d envisioned the project the moment he'd first driven up, and now he was getting started. He’d already taken down the dated wallpaper, and torn up the shag carpet. He was on a roll.

A section of the living room wall felt hollow, different than the rest. He pressed his ear against it, listening. Nothing. He hammered a nail in, and a section of paneling popped loose.

He grabbed a crowbar and pried the section away. A doorway was revealed, leading into blackness. His mind raced. What had he found?

He flipped on his phone’s flashlight, and stepped inside. The room was small, just a narrow hallway. But at the end was another door, and a promise of something else. He was the master of his domain now. He could rebuild this house any way he wanted. This was the first of many things that he would discover.
