The leather felt rich, almost alive, beneath Elias's fingers. He’d found the wallet tucked under a park bench, practically begging to be found. Inside, stacks of crisp bills stared back at him. His chest swelled, a feeling of effortless capability blooming within. He imagined the possibilities: a new sound system, the leather jacket he'd been eyeing. He smiled, picturing himself walking into the dealership, the salesman practically tripping over himself to assist.

He flipped open his phone, the sleek surface reflecting his own grin. No, not yet. First, the right thing. He’d call the police, of course. But later. He imagined the look on the officer's face as he handed the wallet over. “Good on ya,” he imagined the officer saying, admiringly. Elias could almost feel the admiration.

He'd start with a coffee. A good one.
