The elevator doors opened onto the trading floor. Mark straightened his tie, feeling the familiar hum of the floor’s energy thrumming in his bones. He’d navigated volatile markets before, survived corporate shake-ups. He was a survivor. Nothing could faze him now.

A hush fell over the room as the head of the company appeared on the large screen. His face was grim. Mark already knew the news, from a source, of course. His phone buzzed in his pocket. It was a contact, asking what he thought. He already knew.

The screen flickered. A single word flashed: “Acquisition.” Mark watched the announcement with a detached air. He’d weathered worse. He saw opportunity. He had options. He was ready to make his move.
