Gemotions

The flickering fluorescent light above hummed, a nervous companion in the confined space. Marcus crossed his arms, leaning casually against the mirrored wall. He wasn't bothered by the delay. He’d handled worse. Like that time the power went out at the gala, and he still managed to charm the CEO into a second signature.

"Well," he drawled, pushing a stray strand of hair back from his forehead, "This is hardly a crisis." His voice was steady, the timbre smooth. He glanced at Sarah, his coworker, who was currently fidgeting with her phone. He could wait. He was built for waiting.

The air conditioning, if it was even working, felt inadequate. He took a slow breath, letting the pressure build. He had a meeting to prepare for, a presentation to nail. This minor hiccup wouldn’t derail him. He’d probably use the downtime to formulate some truly killer opening lines.

He tapped a foot impatiently. He knew how to negotiate. He knew how to get what he wanted. He'd done it all his life. This elevator was just another locked door, one that would be opened eventually.
