Gemotions

The band was killing it. The crowd was roaring. Liam was on fire, his fingers flying across the fretboard. He could feel the energy surging through him. This was his element. This was where he belonged. He shot a grin at his best friend, Jake, on drums, as the song reached its climax.

After the show, Jake lingered near the stage, looking sheepish. Liam, still buzzing from the performance, clapped him on the shoulder. "Best gig yet, man!"

Jake winced. "Actually… I've got something to tell you." Liam's smile wavered.

"I'm moving," Jake confessed, his voice low. "Across the country." Liam’s stomach dropped. The energy drained out of him, leaving him feeling hollow. The roar of the crowd felt distant and muted. He stepped back, the world seeming to shrink around him. "Moving?" he repeated, his voice barely above a whisper.
