She aced the interview. The words flowed effortlessly, her answers precise and insightful. She knew she was brilliant. She was going to get the job. She’d done all the right things to get here. She was the best. She called her best friend, Chloe, to celebrate.

Chloe answered, her voice hesitant. "Sarah, can we talk?" Sarah’s enthusiasm crashed.

"I have to tell you," Chloe said, her voice wavering. "My family is moving. We're leaving next month." The air seemed to tighten around Sarah. The office building faded. The world felt quiet. "Moving?" she asked, her voice sounding small, even to herself.
