Gemotions

The oak, a hulking presence in Mrs. Gable's yard, had finally given way. Now, its massive limbs sprawled across the fence line, a chaotic jumble of green and brown. Mark strolled out of his house, whistling a jaunty tune, hands shoved casually into his pockets. He sized up the situation, a slight smirk playing on his lips. “Well, that’s just a minor inconvenience,” he murmured to himself, already mentally calculating the best angle for his chainsaw.

He didn't even bother to grab his work gloves. With a practiced ease, he hopped the fence, ignoring Mrs. Gable's frantic waving from her porch. "Don't you worry, Mabel!" he called, his voice carrying clearly across the yard. "I got this." He felt a surge of energy, the familiar thrill of solving a problem, the satisfying weight of his own competence.

He picked up the chainsaw, gave it a yank, and the engine roared to life. The first cut, clean and decisive, sliced through the trunk like butter. He'd have it cleared in an hour, maybe less.
