Gemotions

The air in the room felt suddenly stale and close. Ben caught sight of a familiar pen mark on the corner of his journal, a mark he'd made himself. The journal was now placed on top of David's textbooks, out in the open. A wave of heat washed over him.

He felt the urge to flee, to escape the suffocating feeling that had suddenly enveloped him. He cleared his throat. "Uh, David? Did you… happen to see my journal?"

David looked up from his computer, a slight smirk playing on his lips. "Yeah, I did. I was looking for a pen and saw it. What's it about?"

Ben shifted his weight from one foot to the other. He mumbled something about it being a "private thing," and then quickly retreated to the bathroom, locking the door behind him. He leaned against the cool tile, trying to catch his breath.
