Gemotions

The florist's delivery boy left the box of mixed wildflowers by the door. Brenda peered through the peephole, a wave of discomfort washing over her. She knew no one who would do this, and hated the attention.

She quickly pulled the package inside, the bright colors immediately seeming to invade her muted apartment. She retreated to her bedroom, leaving the box unopened.

For the next two hours, she did everything she could to avoid acknowledging their existence. She reorganized her closet, cleaned her entire bathroom, even scrubbing the grout.

Finally, curiosity got the better of her. She opened the box, her fingers brushing against the delicate petals. They felt like accusing eyes. She felt the need to hide, to disappear.
