“Well, this is awkward,” I muttered, staring at the box. I’d spent the last year trying to forget my high school years. And now, this. The time capsule.

I wrestled the lid open, revealing a collection of CDs, each with a handwritten label in my own, horribly messy handwriting. I pulled out a CD with the name of the most cringeworthy song I’d ever written. I immediately wanted to burn it.

I glanced around the empty field, suddenly feeling exposed, as though everyone could somehow see the contents of the box. My face grew hot. I slammed the lid back on and tried to bury it again. But then, I stopped, letting out a frustrated sigh.
