The coffee tasted like ash in her mouth. She slammed the mug down on the kitchen counter, the ceramic clattering against the granite. Her cheeks were burning, a heat radiating from the tips of her ears. Even the way she'd poured the coffee, the slight tremor in her hand, felt like another failure. This was it. The culmination of everything she'd always worried about. Her teenage diary, filled with awkward poetry and desperate pleas for attention, was plastered across a website she’d never even heard of.

Her fingers, suddenly clumsy, fumbled with her phone. The headline blared, "Lost Diaries of [Her Name]." Below, a grainy photo of the diary cover, a childish drawing she’d considered a masterpiece at the time. A wave of nausea rolled through her. She wanted to disappear, to rewind time to a point before she’d ever dared to dream.

She spent the morning huddled in her duvet. Even the sunlight filtering through her blinds felt like an unwanted spotlight. Every shadow seemed to hold the echoes of her younger, more vulnerable self, a self she now despised.
