Gemotions

Her hands trembled as she clutched the worn photograph. A picture of them, laughing, their faces illuminated by the sunset. The memory was now tainted. The phone calls, the secretive whispers, had begun to erode the foundation of their lives.

She stood in the hallway, listening. He was in the study, his voice low, indistinct. She couldn't make out the words, but she could sense the intimacy, the shared laughter.

The photograph slipped from her grasp, landing face down on the polished floor. A wave of nausea washed over her. She felt betrayed and completely destabilized.
