Gemotions

The house seemed to shrink around Liam, a constricting cage of unfamiliar smells and echoes. Each footstep, each creak of the floorboards, intensified the thrumming tension in his temples. He longed for the simple comfort of his old life.

He was exploring the cramped, neglected basement, searching for a place to put his tools. He brushed against a seemingly solid wall, and a section of paneling shifted inwards. A hidden room, small and windowless, was revealed.

The air inside was thick with the scent of old paper. There were stacks of journals, bound in leather. He picked one up, his hand shaking slightly, and began to read, instantly overwhelmed by a sudden, intense wave of feeling. He sank to the floor, the words blurring before his eyes.
