The weight of the new house bore down on Chloe, its unfamiliarity a constant source of discomfort. She felt exposed, vulnerable, as if every creak and groan of the old structure was a direct assault on her peace of mind. She was always on edge, bracing herself for some unseen threat.

She was exploring the cellar when she stumbled upon the room. Behind a stack of old wooden crates, she saw a door she had not noticed before.
