Gemotions

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows as Clara watered her rose bushes, carefully avoiding the thorns. A yipping, a frantic flurry of paws, and then Buster, the golden retriever from next door, was back. Again. Clara slammed the watering can onto the brick path, the metal echoing loudly. Her hands trembled as she bent to pick up a fallen bloom. The velvety petals, so perfect just hours ago, were now bruised and tattered. She wanted to yell, to scream out her frustration, but the words caught in her throat.

The dog, oblivious, bounded towards her, tongue lolling out, tail a joyful metronome. She wanted to push him away.

"Buster, go home," she managed, her voice barely a whisper. The dog just cocked his head.

Clara turned away, her shoulders slumped, her breathing shallow. The dog's owner never seemed to care, and the constant trespass felt like a personal affront, a deliberate disregard for her small patch of meticulously cultivated peace.
