Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the campus, usually so appealing, now seemed to mock her. Dr. Lee was leaving, and the news had left her feeling like the ground beneath her feet was no longer solid.

She felt a tightness in her chest, making it difficult to breathe. Her vision swam. It was as if a physical hand was squeezing her heart. She wrapped her arms around herself, as if trying to hold herself together.

She longed to crawl under the covers and hide, to escape the ache that resonated throughout her being. She sat on a bench, tears slowly beginning to stream down her face.

Every time she thought of Dr. Lee, the pain returned.
