It was the quiet of the house that felt most oppressive. The silence was now a heavy weight, pressing down on him. The discovery of the account had completely unnerved him, making him question everything. He replayed their conversations, searching for clues, for the lie.

He sat on the porch, watching the neighborhood come to life. Children played, neighbors chattered, and he felt utterly alone. His wife was inside, busy with her projects. He couldn't go in.

Later, she came outside, sat next to him, and said, "It's not what you think." He just stared at the horizon.
