Maya unearthed the time capsule in the park, the setting sun painting the sky in fiery hues. Her hands were smeared with dirt. A sudden chill went through her, even though the air was still warm. She was normally so steady. The capsule was a simple metal cylinder. She recognized the design, but she couldn't place it.

Inside, a single CD, labeled with a childish scrawl: "For Future Me." Her fingers fumbled with the disc, her knuckles white. She felt a strange pressure building behind her eyes. Back home, in the dim light of her living room, she put the CD in the player. The first few piano chords began to play, and a wave of sorrow washed over her.
