Gemotions

The concert hall buzzed with anticipation. I’d designed the posters for the band’s tour, a swirling galaxy of blues and purples. Seeing a young woman with the image on her shoulder blade, perfectly reproduced, nearly knocked the air from my lungs.

She was laughing, talking with her friends, her back turned to me. I took a few steps, then paused. The feeling of being so close to her art gave me pause.

She turned and saw me, her eyes widening. "Oh my god," she breathed, "you’re the artist!" She grabbed my arm, her touch sparking a warmth that spread through me. We spoke for a few moments, the sound of the drums rising in the background. My hands were shaking. I wanted to tell her how much it meant, to see my work take on this new life. But the words were stuck.
