Gemotions

The relentless announcements of flight delays echoed around the nearly empty airport. I stared at the photo on my phone - a picture of my dog, now very old, and very sick. I was meant to be there for his last days. The news came out of the blue, but I had to leave to see him one last time. Every missed connection, every updated delay, became a physical pain. I recalled his goofy grin, the way he would greet me at the door. I traced the picture on my phone, a sense of grief swirling inside me, an overwhelming feeling of loss that threatened to drown me.
