Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed through the windows of the Accounts department, casting long shadows across the empty desks. David found himself lingering. His colleagues had all departed for the day, leaving him alone with his thoughts.

He walked slowly down the aisle, his footsteps echoing in the silence. He paused at his old desk, running his fingers across the dusty surface. He could almost feel the presence of his coworkers, and a smile touched his lips as he remembered all the jokes.

A wave of something he couldn't quite name settled over him. A few tears streamed down his cheek, and he turned to head to the elevator.
