The bookstore was crammed with people, but Amelia found a quiet corner. She’d been searching for a specific edition of *Pride and Prejudice*, her favourite book. It had always reminded her of her grandmother, who had read it to her as a child. Finding a copy that was even remotely affordable was a challenge.

Finally, she found one. As she flipped the book open, a pressed carnation fell out, its petals brittle and faded. Beneath it, a small, handwritten note: “Remember us, always.” Amelia recognized the handwriting instantly: her grandmother's. A wave of warmth washed over her.

She carefully picked up the flower, her fingers trembling. The world seemed to blur. She could almost smell her grandmother's lavender perfume. A single tear escaped and traced a path down her cheek. She clutched the carnation, pressing it to her chest, the memory of her grandmother, and the love she had felt, as fresh and vibrant as the day it was written.
