The attic air hung thick with dust, the sun’s rays illuminating floating particles in the air. Michael was clearing out the family home after his father's passing. The memories were a heavy weight. He came across a collection of old books, bound in leather, and opened one at random.

A single sheet of paper, yellowed with age, slid out. It was a receipt from a local bakery, dated 1962, and on the back, a few hastily scribbled lines: "Bought the cake. She said yes! - Dad." A slow smile spread across his face, the corners of his eyes crinkling.

He could almost see his father, young and beaming, relishing the moment. He ran his thumb over the words, picturing his parents' courtship, the laughter, the love. A deep ache settled in his chest, a feeling of connection so profound, it almost brought him to his knees. He felt a deep sense of calm.
