Gemotions

The wind whipped at his coat as he sifted through the contents. A faded photograph of a young couple, arms entwined, caught his eye. They were beaming, full of life, their faces reflecting a love that he once knew. The wallet contained a large roll of bills, more than he had seen in years.

He traced the outline of the photograph with a calloused finger. He could almost hear the echoes of laughter, the scent of the summer air, the echo of promises whispered long ago. A lump formed in his throat, making it difficult to breathe. He felt a deep tenderness towards the strangers.

He remembered the early days of his marriage, of youthful aspirations. He looked up at the moon, remembering the love he once held in his heart, he would return the wallet.
