"High school reunion?" Claire read aloud, a slight tremor in her voice. She had tossed the invitation aside earlier, but she could not stop thinking about it. Memories, like phantom limbs, began to twitch.

She found herself at the old school website. She scrolled through the list of names, and her heart gave a small jump. She recalled the thrill of the first dance, the sting of rejection, the exhilaration of success.

She pictured the hallways, the lockers, the classrooms where she'd spent so many hours. So much had changed since then. She had changed. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she acknowledged the past.
