He held the invitation up to the light, turning it over and over. Ben had always been the quiet one, the observer. Seeing the familiar logo of his high school brought an unusual feeling. He hadn't thought about those years in ages.

He remembered the cliques, the rivalries, the quiet moments spent reading in the library. He felt a pang of… something, when he thought about his unrequited love for Alicia. His fingers, almost unconsciously, reached for a dusty box in the attic.

Inside, he found old letters, dried flowers, and ticket stubs. He sat down on the floor, surrounded by the ghosts of his youth, and slowly began to sort through his treasures. The past felt very present.
