Now, the "Midnight Decadence" fudge, practically a carbon copy, was a national sensation, sold in gourmet shops and online. John stared at the glossy picture of the fudge on the website. A warmth bloomed in his cheeks.

He remembered Aunt Millie’s kitchen, the constant scent of chocolate, the comforting clatter of the copper pot. His fingers automatically went to his pocket, touching the small, well-worn, recipe card she had given him years ago. He pulled it out, running a thumb over the smudged ink.

A sigh escaped him. He went to the kitchen, found the cocoa powder, and began to make the fudge, his hands moving with a familiar rhythm. Each stir, each fold, brought a pang, a reminder of the woman he loved. He wasn't even going to eat it, he just had to... make it.
