He stared at the email, his eyes struggling to focus. It felt as if his entire office had suddenly become a museum of his life. He began to feel a strange disorientation.

He rose from his seat and walked towards the office kitchen. He gazed at the microwave, the fridge, the coffee machine — all imbued with memories. He paused, remembering the countless conversations, the shared jokes, the silent nods of understanding.

He lingered, touching the surfaces as if trying to imprint them in his memory. It was hard to leave. He took a deep, shaky breath, and turned around to head back to his desk.
