Gemotions

"Well, that's that," thought Susan, the words echoing in her mind. She tried to swallow, but her throat felt constricted. The company was being sold. The words hung in the air, heavy and unresolved.

She got up from her chair and walked over to the window, watching the rain streak down the glass. She remembered her first day, the nervousness, the excitement. Now, a different sensation was present.

Susan felt the tears begin to prick at her eyes, her vision clouding. She could barely see the familiar landmarks outside. She turned back to her desk and carefully picked up a small, wooden carving her son had made for her years ago. She held it tight.
