Gemotions

The air in the apartment felt thick, heavy, as Daniel read the eviction notice. He paced the living room, the worn rug beneath his feet familiar and comforting. The rug had been his grandfather's. He ran his hand over the worn fibers.

He stopped in front of a bookshelf, its shelves overflowing with books. Each book represented a story, a journey, a memory. He ran a finger along the spines, each title a reminder of the hours spent lost in other worlds, comfortably ensconced within these walls.

He picked up a small, framed photograph from the mantle, a picture of his family gathered for his birthday party. The smiles, the laughter, the feeling of belonging – all contained within that single, faded image. He held the photo close, his vision blurring.
