“So, you’re really going?” Sarah asked, her voice barely a whisper. Liam nodded, his face illuminated by the soft glow of the fairy lights strung across her patio. The air was thick with the scent of jasmine, a fragrance that would forever remind her of their summer evenings spent on her porch.

She picked at the edge of the blanket, the familiar texture a small comfort. She watched him, studying the lines etched around his eyes, the way his hand gestured as he spoke. Every detail, suddenly significant, as if she were trying to memorize every aspect of him.

She thought of all the things they wouldn't do together: the concerts, the vacations, the countless moments of shared laughter. She felt the tears welling up, and she quickly looked away. The patio, once a haven of joy, now felt like a poignant farewell.
