Gemotions

The bell tower chimed, the sound echoing across the empty quad. Amy stopped, her hand flying to her mouth. The familiar melody, usually a source of comfort, now felt like a mournful farewell. Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring the familiar buildings.

She had walked these paths a thousand times, each step imprinted with memories. She remembered the first time she walked on campus, how excited she was, how scared she was. She remembered everything that happened in-between. The good and the bad.

She leaned against the stone wall of the library, the rough texture against her cheek, as if trying to hold onto the place with her very being. She felt a deep sense of sadness, an emptiness that seemed to grow with each passing moment.
