The delivery arrived as Thomas was staring at the blank screen of his laptop, the unfinished manuscript mocking him. He almost missed the knock, lost in a swirling vortex of self-doubt. When he opened the door, a cascade of lilies and irises greeted him.

He was momentarily speechless, taking in the vibrant display. No card, though. He’d never received flowers before, and the lack of an explanation felt like a secret whispered in a crowded room.
