Gemotions

The world outside her window was a blur of activity, but inside, a sense of stillness had settled over her. The early morning light fell on the cluttered yard sale. Her eyes drifted to a small, lopsided teddy bear, propped up against a pile of books.

A wave of calm came over her, a feeling like sinking into a warm bath. It was the same bear her grandmother had given her. She closed her eyes for a moment, letting the memories wash over her.

“How much?” she asked, her voice quiet. The seller, a young man, shrugged and smiled. "Free," he said. She smiled, too, and held the bear to her chest.
